POLICE JURISDICTION
Isla Vista Foot Patrol is part of Santa Barbara County Sheriff
Department, and they
have jurisdiction throughout Santa Barbara County. Therefore if you
are stopped
by IV Foot Patrol on UCSB property, they can and will cite you
because UCSB is within
Santa Barbara County. Also, UCPD has state-wide jurisdiction and can
and will cite
you throughout the state of California. For questions please contact

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
Santa Barbara County Sheriff's zero tolerance policy means that
instead of giving
a warning, citations will be issued, and instead of citations,
arrests will be made.
Violations include:
- Fighting in public; other acts of violence
- Minor in possession of alcohol
- Public intoxication
- Open alcohol containers in public
- DUI/BUI
- Violating the noise ordinance (after 10pm Sun-Th and after 12
midnight Fri/Sat)
- Urinating in public
- Burning couches or vehicles (any kind of arson!)
UCSB Extension of Jurisdiction
The University of California, Santa Barbara has extended jurisdiction
over student
conduct to include areas beyond the physical boundaries of the
campus, including
Isla Vista. This means in cases where students are accused of sexual
and other forms
of serious physical abuse and assault, sexual harassment, stalking,
and hazing,
the student may also be subject to UCSB disciplinary processes, in
addition to any legal
repercussions.
