UCSB is one of 8 UC’s and 6 CSU’s participating in the Safer
California Universities
Project, an alcohol prevention campaign through the Prevention
Research Center.
For the first 4 - 5 years of this project, UCSB served as a
control site for the
collection of data. Beginning Fall 2009, UCSB will launch it’s
intervention campaign.
Visibility efforts include a "Party Safe" brochure, creation of a
website and utilization
of social media tools. It is our hope that UCSB will demonstrate
similar results
and success as PRC has seen in other intervention sites.
The content and design of the campaign was developed by a
committee of UCSB students.
The committee included:
- 2 student interns
- 3 Alcohol & Drug Program student representatives
- 1 AS student representative
- 1 After Dark student representative
- 1 STAR (Students Teaching Alcohol and drug Responsibility)
student representative
- 2 student volunteers
